Immunogenicity and protective efficacy of lipopolysaccharides Shigella flexneri 2a with chemically modified lipid A

Abstract

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of S. flexneri 2a is the main target for the formation of human adaptive immune response. However, the use of S. flexneri 2a LPS for preventive vaccination against dysentery, due to its limited express endotoxin effects in humans. Optimization of conditions for chemical treatment of S. flexneri 2a LPS provided the first modified LPS (mLPS), pyrogenicity, which was lower than the native LPS. This paper presents the results of research antibody response and protective efficacy of mLPS in laboratory animals.
