FEATURES OF RNA SPECTRA OF INTERFERONS AND INTERFERON-INDUCED GENE MX1 FOR INFECTIONS OF HUMANS WITH INFLUENZA AND ADENOVIRUSES

Abstract

Interferon (IFN) RNA of three main types with qualitative and quantitative differences between nasopharengeal swabs and blood lymphocytes were found for patients infected with the influenza virus A, B and adenovirus at the early stage of their diseases. Features of IFN RNA spectra include an absence of IFNβ RNA in lymphocytes and detection of IFNg RNA in 50% nasopharyngeal swabs for infection with RNA-containing influenza viruses A and B, whereas for infection with DNA-containing adenovirus IFNβ RNA was found in all samples of lymphocytes but IFNg RNA was missing. IFNα RNA was not revealed in swabs whereas IFNβ and IFNg RNA were detected mainly in swabs. High frequencies (80-100%) and expression levels of IFNλ gene were similar for patients with the acute respiratory infections and healthy donors. High RNA concentrations of MхA protein resulted from infection with the influenza virus and adenovirus and induction with IFN I type. The IFN spectra provided innate immunity and subsequent Th1 adaptive immune response with complete virus elimination with any clinical sequela.
