pediatric, and dentistry faculties and to the curriculum on hygiene with fundamentals of
human ecology (for faculties of dentistry) approved by the Ministry of Health of the
Russian Federation in 1999. It describes methods and methodologies of hygienic studies of
the major environmental factors and body reactions to these factors, enabling the students
master the practical skills of hygienic expert evaluation of air environment, drinking
water, and main foodstuffs. Special attention is paid to problems of common hygiene and
hygiene of labor, including hygiene of dentists. Numerous situation tasks on various
topics promote deeper and more extensive knowledge of respective sections and help better
memorize the information. The last section presents tests (with solutions) for students'

environment and their effects on human body are described and problems of sanitary
epidemiological expert testing of water and foodstuffs for infection are discussed. The
regularities of epidemic process development in servicemen are shown; based on these
regularities, the organization of epidemic control and protection in war time and
emergency is shown; general scheme of measures is given, their contents and realization in
the army are described. The principles of organization of sanitary epidemiological
reconnaissance and criteria for evaluating the sanitary epidemiological status of arms
force and regions of their dislocation are described in detail. Characteristics of
biological weapons and organization of biological protection of arms forces are presented.
