   The journal deals with general sanitary problems. It publishes papers on all areas of hygienic science and sanitary practice. Its main attention is focussed on the hygiene of the environment and populated areas, environmental health, on hygiene of children, adolescents, and radiation, occupational, food and social hygiene. 
   The journal publishes reviews dealing with current scientific conceptions and virtually important problems. It provides materials on important problems that are of interest for the workers of state sanitary-and-epidemiological surveillance centers, informs its readers of new hygienic studies and puts up papers on the organization and planning of sanitation measures, the scientific bases of sanitary legislation, training of sanitary personnel, on sanitary statistics and education, as well as on the history of sanitation in Russia and the state of the hygienic science and sanitation practice in foreign countries. 
   The journal propagates know-how of state sanitary-and-epidemiological surveillance centers. It prints reports covering the activities of congresses, conferences and meetings on sanitary and hygienic problems, information on the activities of the Research Medical Society of hygienists, reviews of the published monographs and textbooks on hygiene and sanitation. 
   The journal is intended for sanitary officers and hygienists at large, sanitation and health organizers of state sanitary-and-epidemiological surveillance centers, workers of hygiene research institutes and the professors and teachers of the hygiene departments of medical institutes.
