Presents information on prion diseases caused by a new class of agents — nucleic-free protein molecules of mammals, acquiring manifest infective properties as results of conformations. The classification of diseases is discussed, characteristics of the agents are presented, the clinical manifestations and diagnosis of prion diseases are described.
